New regulation in South Korea: health warnings on the packaging of electronic nebulized products must cover more than 50% of the area!

2022-09-23

Cigarette manufacturers will have to print new health warning graphics on their packages starting at the end of December this year, according to new regulations announced by South Korea's Ministry of Health and Welfare, as cited by The Korea Herald on Aug. 29 local time.

As a follow-up to the government's tobacco industry regulation amendments passed in June, the South Korean Ministry of Health recently distributed an updated manual for labeling health warnings on cigarette packages. The new graphic health warnings specified in the document include a warning about secondhand smoke, which shows an image of a newborn baby sucking on a baby bottle filled with cigarette butts.

The new rules, which will take effect Dec. 23 of this year, will have an impact on the vape industry, in addition to cigarettes. Officials said manufacturers of e-atomizer products will be required to label more than 50 percent of the area on each box of e-atomizer packaging with a health warning.
